Ducati Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 Goes to Auction for Charity
The Ducati 916 is considered one of the motorcycle manufacturer's most important models. Introduced in 1994, the bike celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and Ducati commemorated this special occasion with the launch of the special edition Panigale V4 25° Anniversario back in July.
With a production run of just 500 units, the Italian bike maker has now announced that one of these rare bikes will be auctioned off for a special cause, one that's very close to Ducati's heart.
The Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916--numbered 5 of 500--will be available for bidding until September 15 as part of Ducati's effort to support the Carlin Dunne Foundation to help with preventative resources and rehabilitation programs supporting extreme sport athletes.
Carlin Dunne died at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on Sunday, June 30, when he crashed his motorcycle near the finish line. The number '5' was picked as an homage to Dunne's racing number.
The aforementioned foundation was created after Dunne's death to provide financial support for athletes diagnosed with and/or at risk of acquiring Concussion Syndrome, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), and traumatic brain injuries.
The special edition bike is available for bidding via eBay. The sale of the motorcycle is homologated for the US and has a value of USD42,500 (PHP2.2 million). Those interested to view or bid for the bike may do so here.
