EDSA Timog Flyover-Southbound to be closed for 1 month starting Jun. 25

The southbound lane of the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA)-Timog Flyover will be closed for one month as it undergoes repairs.

  • In an advisory, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said that the closure of portion will start at 6 a.m. on Saturday (June 25).

    According to MMDA, around 140,000 vehicles passing through the flyover daily will be affected by the closure.
     
    “We are advising the public to plan their trips and take alternate routes as the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) repairs the flyover,” MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said.

    The road repair, which spans 30 meters, includes the construction of a new bridge deck slab of the flyover and the reconstruction of the damaged bridge diaphragm.    

     “Total closure of the bridge has to be implemented considering that the construction works have to be done without any vibration movement. Repairs will be done manually without heavy equipment,” Artes noted.

    The DPWH shared that a portion of the southbound flyover was already closed to traffic since last week after large cracks and potholes were discovered during an inspection. 

    EDSA-Kamuning Flyover

    Following the closure, the MMDA said that EDSA Carousel buses and private vehicles may use the service road and listed alternate routes:

    Vehicles coming from EDSA southbound may turn right at Scout Borromeo Street, straight towards Scout Ybardolaza and JD Jimenez Street, turn left at E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue, turn left at New York Avenue or take Aurora Boulevard to EDSA going to their destination.

    Aside from that, vehicles from EDSA could also turn right at West Avenue, right at Quezon Avenue, U-turn near Magbanua, right at Timog, right at T. Morato, right at E. Rodriguez, left at Gilmore, straight to Granada, right to Santolan Road or right at N. Domingo, left at Pinaglabanan, right at P. Guevarra, left at L. Mencias, right at Shaw Boulevard, left at Acacia Lane, right at F. Ortigas, left at P. Cruz, left at F. Blumentritt, left at Coronado, take Mandaluyong-Makati Bridge to destination.

    Further, motorists from EDSA could also take Scout Borromeo, left at Scout Ybardolaza/Scout Torillo/Scout T. Morato/Scout Tuazon or Scout Tobias, right at E. Rodriguez or follow the Mabuhay Lane route 1 to destination.

    EDSA-Kamuning Flyover

    Prior to the upcoming road closure, the MMDA chair noted that the agency is intensifying clearing operations on Mabuhay Lanes to make sure that alternate routes are passable and obstruction-free.
