Estimated infra damage caused by ‘Egay’, monsoon rains now at P6.94-B

The estimated damage to infrastructure brought by Typhoon “Egay” (international name Doksuri), and the southwest monsoon has reached P6.94 billion, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shared.

    DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said that as of August 1 noontime, agency’s quick response teams have yet to clear 17 closed roads in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Regions 1, 3, and 6 namely the following:

    CAR

     Abra (intermittent sections, due to soil collapse and fallen trees)

    • Abra-Ilocos Norte Road
    • Abra-Kalinga Road

    Apayao 

    • Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road, intermittent sections in Dibagat, Kabugao due to soil collapse
    • Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, intermittent sections in Naguilian, Ferdinand, and Namaltugan, and Ninoy, Calanasan due to soil collapse including Sugoc Bridge in Ninoy due to washed out bridge approach
    • Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road, intermittent sections in Namaltugan, Butao, and Tubungan, in Calanasan due to soil collapse

    Kalinga

    • Kalinga- Abra Road, intermittent sections in Balbalasang, Balbalan due to fallen trees, soil collapse, and road cut

    Mountain Province

    • Baguio-Bontoc Road, Mountain Data section in Bauko to ensure safety of the public
    • Dantay-Sagada Road, K0390+900 due to collapsed pavement

    Region 1

      Ilocos Sur (due to scoured bridge abutment)

    • Vigan-Sta. Catalina Road, Pantay-Daya Bridge
    • Quirino-Pandan Road, Quirino-Pandan Bridge
    • Vigan-San Vicente Road, Roxas Bridge

    Region 3

    Pampanga (due to flooding)

    • Apalit-Macabebe-Masantol Road, intermittent sections in Barangay San Gabriel, Macabebe, Pampanga
    • Candaba-San Miguel Road in Barangay Paralaya, Candaba
    • Baliwag-Candaba-Sta Ana Road in Barangay San Agustin, Candaba
    • Bahay Pare-San Luis-Santo Domingo Road, sections in Barangay Santa Monica, San Luis

    Zambales

    • Olangapo-Bugallon Road, Yamot Bridge, Detour, Yamot, Candelaria due to water elevation

    Region 4

    Iloilo

    • Iloilo-Antique Road in Barangay Quianan, San Joaquin due to landslide

    Meanwhile, motorists are advised that they have limited access on 10 road sections namely:

    • Mountain Province-Ilocos Sur via Tue Road in Poblacion, Bauko, Mountain Province, one-lane passable to light vehicles due to soil collapse
    • Governor Bado Dangwa National Road in Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet, one-lane passable to light vehicles due to soil collapse
    • Banaue-Hunduan-Benguet Boundary Road, sections in Abatan and Bokiawan, Hungduan, Ifugao one-lane passable to light vehicles due to soil collapse
    • Pancian-Adams Road, sections in Barangay Poblacion and Sitio Maligligay, Adams, Ilocos Norte and Sitio Banquero, Pancian, Ilocos Norte, one-lane passable to light vehicles due to damaged road slope protection
    • Cervantes-Aluling-Bontoc Road (S00105LZ) K0387+000, Ilocos Sur, one-lane passable to light vehicles only due to rockslide
    • Dagupan-Bonuan-San Fabian Road, Urdaneta Junction-Dagupan-Lingayen Road via Zambales, Perez, and Tarlac, as well as Judge Jose De Venecia Sr. Avenue, passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding
    • Santo Tomas-Minalin Road in Barangay San Vicente and Tacasan in Tomas; Barangay Sta Rita and Sta. Catalina in Minalin, Pampanga, passable to heavy vehicles due to flooding
    • Tulauc-Santo Domingo Road (Chainage), Chainage 000 - Chainage 100, San Simon, Pampanga, passable to heavy vehicles due to flooding;
    • San Simon-Baliuag Road, Barangay San Miguel, San Simon, Pampanga, passable to heavy vehicles due to flooding; and
    • Baliwag-Candaba Santa Ana Road, Barangay Palagui, Candaba, Pampanga, passable to heavy vehicles due to flooding.

     As of yesterday, a total of 44 roads have been cleared and reopened— 22 of which are found in CAR for Region 1, three in Region 2, and one each in Regions 3, 4B, and 6.
