The 10th PEVS will run until tomorrow, October 21, 2022.“This year’s theme, ‘United in Driving Electromobility in Support of EVIDA’ or Republic Act No. 11697, summarizes our renewed calls to the public and private sectors to join us in this challenging journey. We are embarking on the Philippine government’s mood-calling for unity and solidarity as we aim to further speed up the nation's shift to electric vehicles. For the past decade, EVAP has been emphasizing the importance and timeliness of this proposed shift," said EVAP President Edmund Araga.
"With the current global challenges, we are again reiterating our message: We should join forces to power up our local electric vehicle industry to resolve pressing issues the nation and the world are facing these days,” he added.
THe EVAP president also recalled the first few events where only a handful of members met at a small venue. A decade after, and with more Filipino motorists open to adopting electric vehicle (EV) technology, the PEVS now has its annual affair at one of the most popular venues in the metro — the SMX Convention Center Manila at the SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay.
Here, various companies showcased their EV offerings from big players like Nissan. For the first time, event-goers were able to see the new Nissan Leaf at the 10th PEVS. It now boasts an updated exterior with a few new technological features.
Mitsubishi also presented the muscular yet economical Outlander plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
Hyundai, on the other hand, brought the Ioniq 5 to the event and even made a show of its vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature by charging several smartphones using the power from its reliable battery.
Other notable brands in attendance included Chery with the Tiggo 8 Pro PHEV, BYD with the Dolphin and the Tang, Weltmeister with the W5, and Dongfeng with the Rich 6 EV pickup truck, which by the way is used by Metro Pacific Tollway Company’s (MPTC) in the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).
The 10th PEVS also had something for those looking for something with less than four wheels.
Also in attendance were Hatasu Philippines with their Kumi and Mako e-bikes and DECC with the Yuvan and Vihari e-trikes.
The 10th PEVS will run until tomorrow ( October 21, 2022).
