When the Nissan Navara was first launched in 2015, it made waves with its multilink coil-spring suspension used in its rear. Compared to the segment-standard leaf springs, Nissan deemed that coils could translate to better handling and ride quality.
However, that also meant that with a fully loaded bed, the Navara apparently had a tendency to bottom out. And so in the recent refresh, the pickup was given dual-rate coil springs to remedy the issue. The prerequisite design tweaks were done as well.
What's more, the Navara was given a suite of intelligent driving tech and a "segment-first" five-year/ 150,000-kilometer warranty. The warranty and styling updates, among others, are present in the Navara's eight variants, whose prices start at P1.149 to P 1.849 million.
The pickup range also shares a 2.5-liter diesel engine with 187hp and 450Nm of torque. The base model gets the same mill but with 160hp and 403Nm. Depending on the variant, the engine paired to seven-speed auto or six-speed manual. That said, there are more differences among the Navara variants.
The entry-level Navara is recognizable with its 17-inch steel wheels, and black door handles and side view mirrors.
Inside, the EL uses a two-din audio system, which can play music via Aux, Bluetooth, USB, four speakers. Fabric wraps the two rows of seats here, and the front ones are manually adjusted. Meanwhile, the front occupants' fatigue is said to be lessened with Zero Gravity seats, which is standard for all Navara models.
Seventeen-inch alloy rollers, chrome door handles, side steps, and side mirror signal lights distinguish the two Navara VE Calibre trucks.
From these varieties upward, an eight-inch infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and built-in navigation takes center stage. Six speakers are also present, as are manual fabric seats and dual zone climate control.
Wearing the same exterior accoutrements as the VE models, this Navara is made unique by its four-wheel drive system. Using a switch, the driver can select whether the Navara VE 4x4 can drive its rear wheels only, or all four. The nifty feature works even when the truck is in motion.
As the top-tier variants, these Navara models come equipped with power folding mirrors and silver roof rails in their exteriors. Reversing sensors help the driver avoid backing into objects or other vehicles.
Inside, the Zero Gravity seats are wrapped in leather, the 2.5-liter diesel engine is started and shut off by a button, and the windshield is made clear by rain sensing wipers.
The new Pro-4X top-dog variant sports the new Navara's styling updates but with added touches. It includes an orange-accented front bumper, black grille, door handles, roof racks, running boards, and 17-inch black wheels shod in all-terrain tires.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) is reserved for the Navara Pro-4X. NIM includes Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Intelligent Emergency Braking. With Intelligent Around-View Monitor, surrounding obstacles are shown to the driver when the Navara is in four-wheel drive mode.
