F1’s Lewis Hamilton Tries Superbike Racing, Crashes

Reigning F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton paid a visit to the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto (Jerez Circuit) in Spain on Saturday, December 1, where the pre-season testing of the Superbikes was being held. The five-time F1 winner couldn't help himself and tried out a Yamaha YZF-R1, the same bike used in the World Superbike Championship by the Yamaha Crescent team this year.

His run was however hampered by a minor crash on turn five. Fortunately, Hamilton managed to come out of the accident without any injuries, and promptly returned to finish his run afterwards.

Hamilton's bike run was organized by British track day firm No Limits, which handed him a completely black R1 with a sticker bearing his F1 racing number 44.

Despite his immense F1 background, the Briton has frequently expressed his love for motorcycling, and has been seen attending MotoGP events on occasion.

He even became an ambassador for Italian bike brand MV Agusta, agreeing to add his name to a limited-edition bike: the Brutale 800RR Lewis Hamilton Edition that's been limited to just 144 units.
