KEY TAKEAWAYS
What will power the Ferrari Purosangue?
According to Ferrari, the Purosangue will sport a V12 engine. How many Purosangue SUVs will be produced per year?
No specific number was disclosed although Ferrari said that the Purosangue's yearly average contribution to the shipments is currently planned to remain below 20 percent. Now, nearly four years after, the Maranello-based company is indeed set to reveal its first-ever sport utility vehicle.
In Ferrari’s 2022-2026 Capital Markets Day press release, the carmaker shared that the unveiling of the Purosangue SUV is scheduled for September 2022.
At launch, the Purosangue — which translates to “thoroughbred” or “pure-blood” in Italian — will sport a “pure” V12 engine under the hood. Like the thoroughbred that it is, we’re sure that Ferrari’s first SUV will be well-equipped to take on tough competition from some of today’s upmarket models like the Lamborghini Urus, the Aston Martin DBX, the Bentley Bentayga, or from the likewise forthcoming made-in-Italy, Maserati Grecale.
Ferrari also plans to keep the Purosangue exclusive and said that the SUV’s “yearly average contribution to the shipments is currently planned to remain below 20 percent over its lifecycle,” hinting that the upcoming SUV will be released in very limited numbers.
More news about the Purosangue is expected to be released as Ferrari's SUV nears its debut.
