Ferrari wins neck-and-neck battle vs Toyota at 100th Le Mans
The Ferrari 499P has emerged victorious at the 100th 24 Hours of Le Mans race held recently after it had a neck-and-neck battle against Toyota's GR010 Hybrid.

According to Ferrari it now has 39 wins in Le Mans, 29 of which are class wins and 10 are overall race wins.It has been almost half a century since the Italian automotive brand campaigned in the iconic event and the Ferrari 499P gave the brand its 10th overall victory at the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race only on its first try.
This pushes Ferrari’s wins in Le Mans to 39, which includes 29 class wins.
Ferrari fielded two 499P units numbered 50 and 51, respectively. Finishing first was the number 51 car driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, who shared the car with James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi.
Meanwhile, the number 50 car piloted by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen finished fifth.
“The Maranello manufacturer claimed a historic result on its return to the top class after half a century, with the Ferrari — AF Corse team triumphing in the world’s most famous endurance race,” Ferrari wrote in a press release.
After the dust settled, Ferrari is second in the Manufacturers’ standings, narrowing the gap to Toyota to 19 points.
