The first batch of the much-awaited
Kia Seltos is already in the Philippines, with around 100 units arriving in the country last October 12.
Earlier, CARMUDI PHILIPPINES
shared the Seltos' prices prior to its November 6 unveiling.
Kia Philippines has also announced that a
PHP50, 000 discount will be given to those that would avail via pre-order from October 18 to November 6 with a
minimum deposit of PHP5, 000.
A
total of three variants will be available in the country, namely the
LX (base model),
EX (midrange), and
SX (top-of-the-line).
While no specs have been released yet officially, the Seltos is shipped from South Korea and will have a similar design to those around the globe.
In other countries, the powertrain for the latest Seltos is either a
1.6-liter turbo engine (able to dish out
175 hp and
265 Nm of torque) or a
2.0-liter engine (
147 hp and
180 Nm of torque), which is what we'll apparently get based on information we've gleaned for local dealers.
Early this year, after acquiring the distributorship from the Alvarez group, Kia Philippines--now under the Ayala group--
said that it will be revealing three vehicles.
Some six months ago,
Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada,
during the launch of the all-new Kia Stinger and the turbocharged Kia Forte, said that they will "unbox" a fourth vehicle.
The Kia Seltos will be going head-to-head with the Nissan Juke, Honda HR-V, and Hyundai Kona.
