The new Flying Spur Hybrid has been certified as the most economical Bentley vehicle to date.
In a statement, the Crewe-based premium automaker shared that the hybrid version of the Flying Spur — which is the second electrified grand tourer in Bentley’s model range — has completed Type Approval as the most efficient model that the company has ever produced.
The new Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid recorded an average carbon dioxide figure of 75g/km, based on WLTP standards.
The company said that the introduction of the Flying Spur Hybrid further emphasizes Bentley’s commitment to “becoming an end-to-end carbon neutral organization and the world’s leading sustainable luxury mobility company.”
“With certification secured, the Flying Spur Hybrid is now available to order in the UK and Europe – with other markets to follow soon. By 2024, the entire model range will be available with a hybrid option, ahead of the introduction of the first Bentley Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) in 2025 and the company having an entirely BEV-only model portfolio by 2030,” Bentley noted.
The aforementioned model is equipped with a 2.9-liter V6 gasoline engine with an advanced electric motor that can provide a maximum churn of 537 horses and 750Nm of torque — 95hp more powerful than the Bentayga Hybrid. A fully-fueled Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid can cover up to 800 kilometers.
The same powertrain allows the vehicle to run 0-100kph in 4.3 seconds.
The electric motor is equipped with an 18kWh lithium-ion battery and can be fully charged in as fast as 2.5 hours. The power electronics, Bentley noted, convert the energy stored from the high voltage battery to supply the e-motor or supplement the existing 12-volt vehicle electrical infrastructure.
Back in December last year, Bentley Philippines has announced that it will bring the hybrid versions of both Flying Spur and the Bentayga by 2022.
