For 4th anniversary, Lalamove gives driver-partners fighting chance under New Normal
On-demand delivery mobile phone app Lalamove celebrates its fourth anniversary this month, the year that the Philippines—as well as the rest of the world—was struck by the Covid-19 global pandemic.
While many industries tried their best to stay afloat, Lalamove became one of the most reliable partners to deliver and receive essentials like food, medicine, and aid to the country’s health workers and other frontliners.
During the height of the enhanced community quarantine, Lalamove was one of those that brands that kept on moving, braving the storms of the pandemic.
And while it expresses its gratitude over consumers who continue to patronize their reliable delivery services, Lalamove also keeps its focus on driver-partners who work hand-in-hand with them. During these trying times, Lalamove provided continuous livelihood opportunities, safeguarding a steady source of income despite the restrictive lockdown in place.
As the country got more online-dependent, Lalamove onboarded more driver-partners as they try to support same-day delivery requirements of small and medium business enterprises and meet the growing demand for delivery.
Adrian Nery, a driver-partner since 2016, acknowledged the help that Lalamove has accorded.
"Dahil sa Lalamove, ako ay may sapat na kita para mabuhay ang pamilya ko. Marami ang nahirapan sa pandemya, pero kami sa Lalamove, tuloy tuloy lang ang kita basta masipag at maayos ang serbisyo,” Nery was quoted as saying.
Another driver-partner, Cesar Rejolio, who joined Lalamove’s pool last year, noted the increase of income from shifting to current work.
“Dati akong delivery rider ng pizza restaurant at iba pang courier companies. Sinubukan kong mag-part time sa Lalamove para malaman kung maganda ang kita. Simula nag-full time ako, kinikita ko na sa isang araw ang dating isang linggo kong pinaghihirapan,” Rejolio explained.
In its statement, Lalamove attributed its success to its string of driver-partner empowerment initiatives—such as the Panalomoves Program. Started since 2018, the Panalomoves Program has empowered the ties between both the driver-partners and the platform by giving the former financial security, as well as time management and resource assistance.
The Panalomoves Program gives every partner-driver numerous benefits such as free insurance, Lalamove-exclusive fuel discounts (Petron, Caltex through the Saveplus-Lalamove Card and Seaoil with a co-branded VIP Club card), vehicle maintenance discounts, as well as mobile phone discounts.
Aside from that, the Panalomoves Program gives driver-partners free mobile money accounts and an ATM card for free withdrawals, loan opportunities, and vehicle upgrades with key partners (Transcycle and Powercycle, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc., Ropali and Isuzu Philippines Corporation).
And some of the benefits can also be extended to family members, including leisure activities such as massage, groceries, as well as discounts to prepaid healthcare.
With four years of delivering care in the Philippines, Lalamove's goal is to empower the lives of every partner driver in their platform. This objective has strengthened their resolve in continuing to look after their partner drivers and to keep things moving despite challenges.
