Ford announced that it has increased the standard range of the F-150 Lightning pickup truck. Starting in the fall, vehicles built with the standard range battery, available on Pro, XLT, and Lariat trims, will have a targeted estimated range of 240 miles — up from 230 miles.
The standard range increase also comes at a price as the Blue Oval brand consequently adjusted the pricing of its full-size pickup truck. The American auto firm also cited “significant material cost increases and other factors” as reasons for the said price hike.
At the moment the F-150 Lighting Pro is priced a little over US$41,000 while the F-150 Lightning Platinum is offered at the US$92,000 mark. The updated pricing brings the base variant of Ford’s electric truck to US$46,974 and its range-topping model at US$96,874.
Prices, per the Dearborn-based automotive brand, will take effect once they reopen order banks tomorrow, August 11, 2022. Ford added that Lightning reservation holders who previously received an invitation to order, but who elected to extend their reservation because their vehicle specification was unavailable, will receive a private offer for use in upcoming waves.
“Current order holders awaiting delivery are not impacted by these price adjustments. We’ve announced pricing ahead of re-opening order banks so our reservation holders can make an informed decision around ordering a Lightning,” said Ford Model e Chief Customer Officer Marin Gjaja.
In addition to the increased range, Ford is also making the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist available on the F-150 Lightning. The said feature automatically controls steering, throttle, and brake inputs to make hitching trailers easier.
The F-150 Lightning can be optioned with the abovementioned feature through the Tow Technology Package, which is available on Pro, XLT, and Lariat trims and standard on certain Lariat trims and the Platinum trim.
