A few hours from now, Ford will stage an exclusive event for Mustang fans, owners, and Ford employees to witness the official unveiling of the seventh-generation pony car dubbed “The Stampede.”
Attendees who registered for the event can meet at Ford World Headquarters with their Mustang vehicles and parade together to Hart Plaza in Detroit. The festivities will feature music, art, design, and eight food trucks.
Those going are being encouraged to wear attire inspired by their favorite period in Mustang history, from the 1960s through today, to celebrate every decade of the car's existence. The top costumes are bound to earn prizes, including a two-year lease of an all-new Ford Mustang GT for the first-place winner.
And while the highlight of the event is the new Ford Mustang’s debut, it will also provide fans and customers the chance to see and experience some of the Blue Oval brand’s offerings, like the all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck and the retro-inspired Bronco Heritage Edition sport utility vehicle (SUV).
“As we kick off the next chapter of the Mustang story, this is also going to be the first opportunity many have had to experience F-150 Lightning and the Bronco Heritage. The return of the Detroit Auto Show is a great opportunity to interact with our customers and give them the opportunity to experience Ford's incredible new vehicle lineup,” said Ford Motor Company Global Chief Marketing Officer Suzy Deering.
In addition to the seventh-generation Ford Mustang, the F-150 Lightning, and the Bronco Heritage Edition, the Dearborn-based marque will also bring the Mustang Mach-E, Bronco Sport, Maverick compact truck, and F-150 Raptor R to the Detroit Auto Show floor.
A Bronco session will demo vehicle features on the Built Wild Drive Track, while another will focus on connected technologies such as FordPass, Ford BlueCruise, Alexa Built-in, and Ford Power-Up software updates.
At its booth in the motor show, Ford will host a series of scheduled 30-minute sessions featuring product demonstrations and question and answer with product specialists and Ford engineers. These include sessions on electric vehicles (EV) that will cover home charging solutions, route planning and charging on the road, as well as Intelligent Backup Power for F-150 Lightning customers.
Furthermore, the Ford display will host mixed and augmented reality displays that tackle a number of topics, such as a master class on the all-new Mustang, EV education, connected technology, and Ford Pro commercial vehicle services.
Also making its debut at the Detroit Auto Show is the 2023 Lincoln Corsair from the Ford-owned Lincoln brand. The Lincoln booth will also showcase stunning concepts that share a glimpse of the brand’s future vision which includes the Lincoln Star and the Lincoln Model L100.
The Detroit Auto Show will be open to the public from September 17 to 25.
