Ford has revealed the 2024 Ranger Raptor with best-in-class power of up to 405 horses, making it “the most powerful Ranger ever built.”
According to the American automotive brand, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor — whose Philippine-market counterpart will be unveiled on May 18 — is equipped with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 gasoline engine tuned by Ford Performance.
The mill is equipped with a race-bred anti-turbo-lag system that keeps the turbochargers spinning for up to three seconds even after the driver backs off the throttle, the Dearborn-based brand explained.
Bolted to the abovementioned powerplant is a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. It is paired with an advanced four-wheel drive system with a new electronically controlled two-speed transfer case with front and rear locking differentials.
This setup gives the 405 horsepower engine an accompanying torque of up to 583 Newton-meters.
“Ranger Raptor is the high-performance off-road truck so many customers have been begging for. It’s right-sized for tight trails and daily life, can carry lots of gear, and is a blast to drive. Ranger Raptor is fast, comfortable, and packed with top-shelf, purposeful technology that’s designed to perform. This is the baddest Ranger we’ve ever made,” commented Ford Performance Chief Engineer Carl Widmann.
Providing improved performance is a purpose-built suspension system with lightweight aluminum upper and lower control arms. It also comes with a long-travel rear suspension with Watts linkage and trailing arms.
It also gets next-generation Fox 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shock absorbers that work in conjunction with coil-overs at the front and piggyback reservoirs at the rear.
Further, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor’s drive modes (Normal, Tow/Haul, Sport, Slippery, Off-Road, Rock Crawl, and of course, Baja) alter the damping performance of the Fox 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass system to best suit the selected mode.
And while we’re on the topic of selectable modes, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor comes with different active valve exhaust settings, namely Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Baja.
Notable exterior appointments found on the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor include a bold FORD script at the front, an all-steel bumper, iconic C-clamp headlights and taillamps, as well as a set of 17-inch wheels shod in aggressive-looking 33-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain KO3 tires.
Inside, the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor comes with Raptor-branded seats, a high-resolution 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12-inch center touchscreen infotainment system.
Order books will be opened later this month according to the Blue Oval brand. The 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor will be built at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan.
