Ford expands its Mustang lineup with new appearance packages exclusively for the iconic pony car.
The first of the three upgrade packages is the new limited-edition 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition. It will be finished in Brittany Blue exterior paint with two different Wimbledon White exterior stripe options (painted over-the-top racing stripes with unique GT500 logo or vinyl over-the-top racing stripes with unique vinyl side stripe featuring GT500 logo) to pay homage to the 1967 Shelby GT500.
Ford said that the limited-edition 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition will come with “world-class muscle and powertrain technologies to attain supercar levels of performance.”
Its features include a first-in-class seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, race-bred control strategies, and advanced drive modes.
The Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition package adds US$2,140 to the 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500’s price tag (US$72,900) while the GT500 Heritage Edition package with hand-painted stripes will set customers back US$12,140 on top of the 2022 Shelby GT500’s US MSRP.
Ford is also offering the Code Orange — an exclusive Ford Performance paint color — on the 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500.
On the other hand, Ford will also be releasing an all-new Coastal Limited Edition based on the 310-turbocharged-horsepower Mustang EcoBoost Premium fastback and convertible.
The Coastal package adds 19-inch machined-face aluminum with tarnished dark-painted wheels unique vinyl side stripes, a signature Mustang rear fender side scoop, a black grille, pedestal rear spoiler, Coastal lighted sill plate, and Coastal instrument panel badge.
The Coastal package adds US$1,995 to the price of the 2022 Mustang EcoBoost Premium (US$32,225).
Customer orders for the new limited-edition 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition and the 2022 Mustang Coastal Edition are now open at Ford dealers in the US with vehicles going on sale from March to May of 2022.
