Foton secures biggest overseas electric city bus order

Foton announces that it has secured its biggest overseas electric city bus order — from Chile. The automotive brand officially signed a deal of 1,022 units of electric city buses with a total value of ¥1.6 billion RMB (renminbi) with its customer from Chile, serving the public transportation system of Santiago.

By conducting in-depth research on the Chilean bus market and customers’ special needs, Foton rolled out one-stop transportation solutions. The deal marks the biggest order of domestically manufactured electric city buses from the overseas market, catapulting Foton into first place in the Chilean new energy vehicle market. Following the order of 1,000 electric buses in India in 2020, Foton has once again set a new record for Chinese electric buses in overseas markets.

As the expert for all transportation scenarios, Foton is actively bringing green and clean high-quality travel experiences to more countries. Taking the Chilean market as an example, since November 2019, Foton has won orders for 215 new energy buses and injected “Foton power” into Chile’s green public transportation. Now it has successfully won orders for 1,022 pure electric buses, helping the local public transportation system for carbon-free upgrade.

Through this recent deal, Foton aims to help Chile achieve its goal of having its entire public transport network powered by electricity before 2040.
