Foton to reveal country’s 1st electric light-duty truck at ‘Big Show’ event

The Philippine arm of Foton announced that it will reveal the country’s first electric light-duty commercial truck, the Tornado 3.6 EV.

Its arrival on the Philippine market affirms the automotive brand’s commitment to delivering sustainable and more fuel-efficient means of mobility to help local business owners.

“Foton is the first Chinese automotive brand to enter the Top 10 in the Philippine automotive market rankings. This recent achievement is a reflection of the Filipinos’ trust in our brand. Today, as we celebrate more years in service, we are laddering the game to higher routes. We are conquering market reach with upgraded truck technology and power. Aiming for an economical commercial vehicle, we developed our new truck line-up for more fuel-efficient mobility, enabling every drop of fuel to move you and your business further,” said Foton Motor Philippines, Inc. President Erroll Dueñas in a previous press release.

The automotive firm, which is also a new member of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI), has not shared any details about the electric commercial truck’s specifications. That said, those interested will have to wait for its reveal at Foton Philippines’ upcoming “Big Show” event where the Tornado 3.6 EV will make its debut.

It will take place from February 10 to 12 at the World Trade Center in Pasay.

According to the automotive manufacturer's local arm, those interested may register for the event through the Foton PH app or by visiting the company’s website.

Online registrants will get the chance to take home exclusive Foton merch, which are Foton-branded caps, jackets, arm sleeves, shirts, umbrellas, and water bottles. 

Alongside the Foton Tornado 3.6 EV will be two new commercial vehicles, which Foton said are “electrified with smart science.” These are the Harabas Miller and the Traveller 2.0.

To note, Foton’s light-duty lineup in the Philippines consists of various versions of the Tornado nameplate, which include the Tornado M2.6C, Tornado M4.2C, and the Tornado M5.2C.
