Foton Motor Philippines Inc. (FMPI) has sold the most number of six-wheeler trucks in the local market during the first five months of the year as it continues to embrace the third position in overall trucks sales this year.
According to FMPI, the company sold 677 units of trucks in the CAT III to CAT V categories. This is propelled by the Tornado, which cornered 80.35 percent of the six-wheel market.
The latest feat backs the company's achievement in 2020 when it joined the top 10 brands overall automotive sales as it “boasts a formidable array of commercial vehicles as it endeavors to further improve its position in the truck segment amidst the rapid growth in the logistics, transportation, and infrastructure industries.”
Foton attributed the sales to the growing demand from small to medium business enterprises and fleet partners.
Citing the report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc.-Truck Manufacturers Association (CAMPI-TMA), FMPI shared that it has “achieved an impressive total sales growth of 109 percent for the month of May compared to the same month last year.”
Further, the FMPI leadership, led by its president Rommel Sytin, expressed confidence in the brand’s growth and in the continuous market recovery of the automotive industry.
“Supporting various industries, including the cold-storage requirements for the transport of the COVID-19 vaccines, inspires us to continue pursuing the country’s mobility needs. We’ll relentlessly defy obstacles and challenges to continue empowering Filipino lives,” Sytin was quoted as saying.
Moreover, FMPI claimed that the Foton Tornado series categorized as light-duty trucks “have been consistently in demand for their dependable performance, rugged and long-lasting chassis, and innovative features that come with an unbeatable value.”
Combined with a selection of high-strength customizable bodies, the abovementioned model can be set-up to meet the various needs of the market, including Ref-Van, MPV, F-Van, Dropside, Water Tanker, Fuel Tanker, Self-Loader and Crane Trucks.
The Foton trucks are equipped with world-renowned parts such as Cummins engines, ZF transmissions, Bosch electronics, and WABCO air brakes that ensure performance and superior functionality.
Recently, Foton has reached a milestone of 10 million units in global sales attesting to its usability as FMPI noted that the brand has earned the title of being the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in Asia.
