After causing quite a stir in the local automotive industry, the Suzuki S-Presso Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) has finally been revealed in the Philippines.
Suzuki Philippines Incorporated 's (SPH) latest offering comes with vibrant colors that is designed to serve the needs of the younger generation.
“The New S-Presso AGS will address the demand of our customers who have been waiting for the automatic version for quite some time now. We fully understand why the S-Presso has become a status symbol and a bold statement of one’s lifestyle, especially the young generation who wants to make a mark and fulfill their commitments in life,” SPH Director and General Manager for Automobile Norihide Takei said.
As shared in a previous article, the new Suzuki S-Presso AGS is powered by the 1.0-liter K10C powertrain equipped with an auto stop start system that cuts the engine when it becomes idle, that helps reduce fuel consumption even while on the road.
As the name suggests, the vehicle’s three-cylinder 12-valve mill is paired with a five-speed AGS system — enabling a manual gearbox to shift gears in an automated fashion. The aforementioned update removes the need for a clutch pedal when operating the vehicle.
As seen and initially tested at the recently-concluded 2023 Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival, the latest variation under the nameplate has carried over the overall exterior look of manual transmission offering, namely the four-holed grille with trapezoid motifs at the fore and the rear bumper design.
The company also retained the look of the halogen headlamps and the C-shape taillamps and still sits on 14-inch alloys.
Inside, the new Suzuki S-Presso AGS is fitted with fabric seats and hard plastic — bearing no difference with the manual transmission kind. Additionally, the three-spoke electronic-powered steering wheel housed the audio controls (and hands-free Bluetooth control) for the seven-inch touchscreen that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
Amid being minute, the new Suzuki S-Presso offers up to 239 liters of luggage space.
Further, the new Suzuki S-Presso is featured with a host of passive and active safety technologies led by the electronic stability program that allows the passenger to control the car when cornering and ensures traction while accelerating or traversing wet pavements or slippery roads.
Another notable feature of the vehicle is the hill-hold control, that stops the vehicle from rolling backwards on steep slopes.
Available in Sizzle Orange, Metallic Granite Gray, Fire Red and white, the new Suzuki S-Presso AGS is priced at P660,000 while the GL Mt is P620,000.
With such packaging and pricing, SPH Auto Sales Manager Jude Racadio told Carmudi Philippines in an earlier interview that the company is eyeing to sell around 500 Suzuki S-Presso units, with the majority coming from the AGS version.
