‘Strong possibility’
However, a quick check on the brand’s global website reinforced the possibility of the Fuso Canter’s electrified version being introduced to the Philippine market.
As mentioned in one of its statements, Fuso announced that the eCanter is already in Singapore — with the first unit formally handed over to a local customer.
According to Fuso, the Singapore-retailed eCanter is available in four trims with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) ranging from 5-8.55 tons. Wheelbase length varies from 2.5-4.45 meters, and the truck can be had with a small, medium, or large battery that can store as much as 124 kilowatt-hours (kWh).
In addition, the truck brand noted that the Fuso eCanter can be fully charged overnight using a regular outlet, or in under two hours using a fast charger.
Further, the Fuso eCanter examples being offered in Lion City are all built-up units from the Kawasaki manufacturing facility.
Per Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Karl Deppen, the eCanter is “expected to satisfy the various demands of customers in Singapore, just as it has been doing in 38 markets worldwide.”
Vehicle specifications
Here are the Fuso eCanter’s specifications as seen on its website.
The truck is offered in three wheelbase options namely short, long, and extra-long (with numerous body and cab applications).
All choices are ready to be fitted with any of the three battery configurations (41, 83 and 124 kWh). When fully charged, the truck can cover up to 200 kilometers.
Outside, the Fuso eCanter maintained the black belt design on its front fascia but has hints of orange and blue to depict the truck’s electrified mobility capability. In addition, all exterior illumination (headlamps, daytime running lights, and rear combination lamps) are on LED bulbs that ensure the truck’s visibility.
For its cabin, the truck is outfitted with a 10-inch digital meter, an infotainment screen that has Bluetooth connectivity, and a multi-function steering wheel. It also comes with a keyless entry system that complements the electronic starter switch.
Moving the vehicle is an electric motor integrated to its reduction gear and inverter via the e-Axle system.
Moreover, the Fuso eCanter features a myriad of safety features such as Active Attention Assist, Active Sideguard Assist, as well as Active Brake Assist.
