Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation (SFP) has launched the all-new version of its Canter FE71 light-duty commercial truck.
According to the general distributor of Fuso trucks in the Philippines, the all-new Canter FE71 is designed to be safer, more efficient, and more eco-friendly than the outgoing model.
With that, the all-new Canter FE71 brings innovations such as the upgraded 3.0-liter diesel engine. Powering the commercial mover is an updated 4P10 powerplant that provides cleaner performance, lower fuel consumption, and increased power.
The said diesel mill can be paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The latter — introduced to a Fuso Canter truck for the first time — borrows the Duonic technology from Daimler Trucks.
Per SFP, the Duonic technology-equipped AMT found in the all-new Canter FE71 combines benefits offered by a manual transmission (low fuel consumption) and an automatic slushbox (easier driving).
The all-new Fuso Canter FE71 also has various drive modes such as “Creep,” which makes it easy to drive at low speeds and reach the platform; “P (Parking) Range, ” which is useful when parking; and the new “Eco Mode,” which further boosts the truck’s fuel efficiency.
Speaking of fuel efficiency, SFP subjected the all-new Canter FE71 to a fuel economy run where the light-duty truck traveled 356 kilometers with a 100-kilogram load. The Canter FE71 clocked in at 11.6 kilometers per liter at mixed driving conditions with regulated speed limits and light to no traffic.
The said feat was observed and certified by the Automobile Association of the Philippines.
In terms of safety, the all-new Fuso Canter FE71 is equipped with features like an anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution. Also contributing to the truck’s safety is the company’s Fuso RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) high-rigidity safety cab structure.

The all-new Canter FE71 is offered in four variants and is priced from P1.67 million up to P1.765 million.
