Sojitz Fuso Philippines (SFP) has officially turned over 12 brand-new Canter Express modern public utility vehicles (PUV) to a transport group in the Queen City of the South.
In a statement, the Japanese truckmaker’s local arm said that the Class 3 units were delivered to the Cebu Provincial Operators Transport Cooperative (CPOTC) for their deployment in the Carcar-Tabunok loop.
The turnover ceremony held at Poblacion III, Awayan, Carcar City was led by SFP Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing Noriyuki Sekita, CPOTC Founder Julie Flores, Fast Autoworld Philippines Corporation (FAPC) Assistant Vice President Dax Albarece, and Carcar City Mayor-elect Patrick Barcenas.
In his message, Albarece congratulated CPOTC for “providing the first modernized PUV fleet in Southern Cebu.” “CPOTC pioneers the routes with Fuso as its partner brand. We are honored to be part of CPOTC’s journey to be the premier transport provider in Carcar City,” he added.
According to SFP, the Fuso Canter Express vehicles delivered (which are based on the nameplate’s FE73 platform) are fully air-conditioned and feature front-facing seat configuration that can accommodate up to 24 passengers.
Further, the vehicles come with accessories that are required by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), namely the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and recorders, Wi-Fi, GPS tracking systems, LED route signages, and LCD monitors.
Sekita said that the company is very excited to provide CPOTC the Fuso Canter Express units, noting that it is aligned with the government's PUV modernization program.
“This turnover ceremony signifies our relationship with CPOTC and we are very confident that Fuso will be able to provide a more durable, comfortable, and safe transport solution to the public commuters of Carcar City,” Sekita noted.
