Gabrielle Union is the face of the soon-to-be-launched Ford Maverick in the US
After the debut of the F-150 Lightning and Lightning Pro, Ford will add another pickup to its North American range.
The Maverick, built as a compact pickup, is a "rebirth of a classic name and the creation of a new choice for truck customers." The name once graced a line of Ford coupes and sedans in the 1970s, and today, it looks like Ford is marketing the new truck to the younger, social media-savvy set.
After all, actress Gabrielle Union will endorse the Maverick as it debuts in the US. Ford said that she will present the truck on her own Instagram and TikTok channels, on Ford’s social channels, and on Hulu. The Maverick will be Ford’s first vehicle to debut on its new US TikTok channel.
Ford didn't show much of its new truck in its YouTube teaser. Rumor has it that the truck will powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the Bronco crossover. It also won't be surprising if the Maverick gets electric power, like the F-150, when it goes on sale.
