China-based GAC Motors--through its exclusive distributor Legado Motors Inc.--has unveiled one of its flagship models in the country, the GAC GS3.
A subcompact crossover launched in China November last year, the GAC GS3 is eyed to be a gamechanger in the local market per Legado Motors Chief Executive Officer Wilbert Lim.
Lim expressed pride over the introduction of GS3 in the country.
"We are extremely pleased with the launch of the GAC GS3 here in the Philippines and we are excited to enter the market at a time where there is great demand for vehicles that respond to the modern lifestyle of consumers," he said.
"GAC as a pioneering global Chinese brand is set to conquer the automotive scene in developing markets such as the Philippines, and we are confident that our value propositions will have discerning Filipino car owners take a second look at our innovative vehicles and own the GAC experience," he added.
Available in two variants, the GS3 is powered by either a 1.5-liter DCVVT engine that produces 113 hp and 150 Nm of torque (150N variant) or a 1.3-liter turbocharged DCVVT engine rated to make 136 hp and 202 Nm of torque (200T variant). Both are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and are Euro-5 compliant in terms of emission.
For its design, the GS3's exterior combines classic chrome elements with a trendy and sporty aerodynamic design. For its interiors, a premium vibe is seen and felt from the leather (200T) and fabric (150N) seats.
The interior was also beefed up with an eight-inch TFT infotainment system with Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, making the GS3 more luxurious.
Safety features of the GS3 include electronic stability control, anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), traction control system (TCS), hydraulic brake assist (HBA), hill-start hold control (HHC), hill descent control (HDC) and electronic parking brake with auto-hold.
