Filipinos love seven-seaters. This is why every brand's lineup isn't complete without that kind of vehicle — sometimes in varying sizes, too.
And so the GAC GN6 MPV recently joined the seven-seater party, and in the brand's local lineup, it now sits next to the GN8 Minivan and GS8 SUV.
What is the Guangzhou Automobile Corporation (GAC), you ask? GAC Motor Co, Ltd. is a Chinese carmaker that was established in 2008, and landed in the Philippines in 2018. The brand also operates a research and development facility, and is currently test-running a self-driving vehicle.
What is a GN6? GAC has shared six reasons why it's the ideal family vehicle.
1. The GN6 can seat seven in comfort
No, the brand didn't just fit seven seats — the GN6 has leather seats that promise to give all occupants supreme comfort. The second row also benefits from captain chairs, which can be slid forward to maximize legroom for third-row occupants.
2. It has an abundance of space
Between those captain seats, GAC said there's 190mm worth of space to allow better ingress and egress to the MPV, and access to the rearmost seats.
Behind the rear seats is a 324-liter cargo space, which expands to 1,100 liters when the said seats are folded. As a result, 14 pieces of 20-inch luggage can be accommodated, GAC said.
3. It has all the needed gadgets
Family trips will be made comfortable by the eight-inch infotainment display with Bluetooth connectivity that can play music, which will be sent to the six speakers. The driver will also get to enjoy the GN6's 7-inch instrument cluster.
4. It's got the power and efficiency
Under the hood of the GN6 is a a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, a Euro 5-compliant mill that can produce 170hp and 265 Nm of torque. GAC said, the engine was produced by Aisin Seiki, the largest producer of automatic transmission engines in the world.
The MPV has a claimed fuel consumption figure of 14kpl, and a 52-liter fuel tank.
5. It's safe
The GN6 promises not only comfortable travels, but safe ones as well with the expected anti-lock braking system, reversing camera, and a whole list of safety features.
There are front dual and side airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), traction control system (TCS), hill-ascend and descend controls, parking sensors, three-point seatbelts with alarm, Isofix child seat anchors, brake hold assist, and engine immobilizer with anti-theft alarm.
6. The GN6 is reasonably priced
All of the aforementioned features notwithstanding, the GN6 comes in at P1,480,000, which includes a five-year warranty (or 150,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.)
Legado Motors, Inc., the official distributor of GAC cars in the country, said it is also giving customers a P100,000 discount voucher off the GN6 list price. Interested customers will first have to pay a P50,000 reservation fee, the company clarified.
This reservation promo is extended until April 30, 2021, it added.
