GAC GA4 to join 2021 Kalayaan Cup Endurance Challenge

The local distributor for Chinese automaker Guangzhou Automobile Corporation (GAC)  announced that it will join this year’s Kalayaan Cup 12-hour Endurance Race.

Legado Motors, Inc. (LMI) said that this year’s team — which will vie for top accolades on June 12 and 13, 2021 — will be comprised of 2019 Philippine Autocross Championship Series overall champion Kody Ng, multi-awarded racecar driver Milo Rivera, and Patrick Mendoza.

With a race-built GAC GA4 as their weapon of choice, the aforementioned racers will participate in the Challenge  Makisig Class, (six-hour endurance race with two race car drivers); and the Matatag Class, (12-hour test that has at least three drivers taking turns at maneuvering the race car at the tracks) to be held at the Clark International Speedway. 

 

The GAC Motor Philippines Race Team is expected to take home victories as back in 2019, the GAC Motor Race Team made up of Brennan Lim, and Andre Tan won bagged four championships at the Kalayaan Cup 12-hour Endurance Championship (Manufacturer’s Class), the Bonifacio Cup four-hour Endurance Championship (Manufacturer’s Class) as well as in the Bonifacio Cup four-hour Endurance Championship (Open Category).

Lim, who also stands as GAC Motor Metrowalk branch head, said that their move  to take part in motorsports once again would serve as a good avenue to showcase their local offerings.

“Joining motorsports events such as the endurance challenge will play a key role in boosting the presence of GAC Motor and building brand confidence in the Philippines. It will also enable us to showcase the performance and reliability of the brand’s vehicle lineup, especially the GA4,” Lim was quoted as saying.

 Powering the GA4 1.5L MT is a 1.5-liter inline-4 DCVVT Euro 5-compliant engine that has the capacity to dish out a maximum of 113hp and 136Nm of torque.
