GAC might offer GE3 electric vehicle next year
The country’s distributor of Guangzhou Automotive Company (GAC) is definitely on the offensive in terms of vehicle introduction. Just this week, Legado Motor Philippines (LMI) announced that it is keen on braving the local electric vehicle (EV) market.
LMI Product Director Brennan Lim revealed that the company is eyeing to bring in its contender in the EV arena as early as 2022.
“Yes! If the condition allows us (because we’re still in the midst of a pandemic), GAC Motor will probably launch an EV,” Lim said during a recent virtual roundtable meeting.
Upon checking the GAC Motor website, the company seems to offer only one model that falls under the category: the GE3.
Powering the GAC GE3 is a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) that can deliver a maximum of 132kW (179hp) and 290Nm torque. This powertrain helps the GE3 reach top speeds of up to 156kph. Its Ternary Lithium Battery can be fully juiced up in a span of eight hours.
With a body of an SUV, the GAC GE3 has a total length of 4,337mm with a 2,560mm wheelbase and is 1,640mm tall. This model offers a trunk capacity of 370 liters up to 1,400 liters.
On the outside, the GAC GE3 has LEDs for its headlights, daytime running lights, tail lamps and turn signals in the side mirrors. This vehicle is also fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels and a power sunroof.
Occupants are to be welcomed by leather seats with the driver seat equipped with a six-way adjustable system. It has a pair of 12V power outlets (one in the front; the other in the cargo area) and has a negative ion air purifier (PM 2.5).
Further, the GAC GE3 has the following technological features: an eight-inch colored LCD touchscreen display with six speakers, with Bluetooth connectivity and a speed-based volume adjustment as well as wireless phone charging system.
It is also equipped with six airbags and anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability program, traction control system, hydraulic brake assist, hill-start hold control, hill descent control, electronic parking brake with autohold, cruise control, and impact-sensing door unlock system.
