After being seen in its showroom prior to the announced product reveal, GAC Motor Philippines has officially launched the latest version of its flagship model GS8.
The refreshed version of the nameplate which first appeared in the country in 2018, now sports a more aggressive look and is packed with technological and safety features.
As seen in the earlier photos released by Carmudi Philippines, the 2022 GAC GS8 wears larger intake vents with chrome trim in the front bumper and silver-finished skid plate in the front and rear bumpers.
Inside, front occupants will be welcomed by the piano black finish and wooden trim underneath it, and a 10-inch LED display with Apple CarPlay connectivity (that is matched to a six-speaker Harman Kardon system).
The driver gets to use a heated steering wheel (which has audio and cruise control features) ventilated seats that have adjustable lumbar support and memory function— almost the same comforting features that the co-driver enjoys. The second-row seats also get lumbar support while the third-row seats can be folded flat and have hook holders to secure luggage. All these are covered in Alcantara leather.
Further, the 2022 GAC GS8 now comes with a wireless charging dock at the front and a 5V USB port and an electric outlet in the middle row. It also has LED ambient lights, a panoramic sunroof, an ion-filtered air-conditioning system and can hold 10 drinks.
Powering the refreshed model is the same Euro 5-compliant 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired to an Aisin six-speed automatic transmission that can deliver 199hp and 320 Nm torque.
Moreover, the 2022 GAC GS8 is equipped with 10 airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), traction control system (TCS), 360-degree camera, parking sensors, electronic parking brake, three-point seatbelts with alarm, Isofix child seat anchors, brake hold assist, engine immobilizer with anti-theft alarm, and window jam protection, fingerprint sensor door lock, anti-glare rearview mirror, tire pressure monitoring system, and power tailgate with motion sensor.
Furthermore, the 2022 GAC GS8 features a remote keyless ignition system, remote window, and sunroof controller. Its sensor-lock feature activates when the driver or key holder is at least three meters away from the car and the unlock sensor activates when the driver is at least one meter away from the vehicle. A fingerprint sensor door lock is also provided that can only be accessed by the key holder.
