GAC Motor Philippines will reveal a new product soon and it is highly likely to be the GS3 Emzoom.
The speculation was made following the world play that was seen on the distributor's invite. It seems to be connected with the Chinese automaker's announcement that it will produce the GAC GS3 Emzoom — along with other nameplates — in neighboring country Malaysia.
Based on the invite sent to Carmudi Philippines, the local arm of Guangzhou Automotive Company (GAC) in the country said that it will reveal the new offering on June 20. “Big news zooming your way,” the company said.
GAC Motor's declaration pertaining to the GS3 Emzoom production in the ASEAN region was made in line with the proclamation that the brand will provide an investment of RM 60 million (more than P730.8 million) to its distributor in Malaysia.
However, the aforementioned model, GAC Motor noted in a statement, is set to roll off production lines in Malaysia as its first locally-assembled model in April 2024.
No further details were shared about the vehicle as of posting but specifications and pricing of the yet-to-be offering will be shared upon formal confirmation from GAC Motor Philippines.
Upon checking the global brand’s website, the GAC GS3 Emzoom veered away from its previous look. Instead of having a horizontal orientation, the expected-to-be-unveiled crossover sports a vertical grille design — nearly sharing the same fascia as the Emkoo.
In addition, the might-be forthcoming five-seater model will be powered by a gasoline engine (probably a 1.5-liter powertrain) mated to an automatic transmission.
To note, GAC Motor Philippines offers the GAC GS3. Currently being retailed in two trims namely the GB and GS, the vehicle is powered by a 1.5-liter-mill that can deliver 113 horsepower and 150 Newton-meters of pulling power. The currently-offered model comes in four colors: Flame Red, Elegant Black, Starlight Silver, and Ivory White.
