Since its opening shop in the Philippines, Legado Motors Inc. (LMI) has been known in the industry as a silent-operating vehicle distributor. But just this week, the company proved that it has a lot in its arsenal.
During a virtual meeting discussion early this week, LMI Product Director Brennan Lim said that aside from an electrified vehicle offering, they are also set to bring in the new GS8 to the country by the third quarter next year.
To replace the current flagship sports utility vehicle from Guangzhou Automotive Company (GAC) that has been in the country since 2018, the forthcoming version will bear minor upgrades in its exterior look. The vents are larger compared to the soon-to-be replaced version and chrome trims below the fog lamps have been redesigned.
The latest iteration of the GS8 is powered by a 2.0-liter TDI engine that can deliver 252hp and 390Nm of torque. This third-generation powertrain, which is mated to six-speed automatic transmission, has increased power 25 percent and 22 percent more torque compared to its predecessor.
Should the top-spec version be brought here (as offered in China), the soon-to-be introduced model will feature luxury leather seats up to its third row with the front seats both electronically adjusted (driver by 10-ways and co-pilot by four ways).
The new GS8 is fitted with a 10.1-inch high-definition full-color LCD central control system with smartphone connectivity system with eight speakers. Owners of the new GAC GS8 in China also enjoy smart key function (with engine start and car search function) and are protected by six airbags).
For this year, the local distributor of GAC vehicles announced that its lineup will have two new members by this year: the bullet-proof GS8 and the second-generation GS4.
