GAC will introduce GN6 in Q1 2021 and here’s what we need to know
The local distributor of Chinese automotive manufacturer Guangzhou Automobile Corporation (GAC) is set to bring a new car in to expand its roster this year, specifically during the first quarter of the year.
Carmudi Philippines was informed that the forthcoming model for GAC will be the GN6 MPV. With almost the same dimensions as the Maxus G50, this would only mean it would take on the Japanese heavyweight Toyota Innova in the market.
The incoming GAC GN6 will expand the lineup that Legado Motors Inc. (LMI) is offering to six, and will join the GA4 sedan, GA8 executive sedan, GS4 compact SUV, GM8 premium seven-seater minivan, and the flagship model GS8 midsize SUV. The said model is slated to be launched next month, but no definite date yet.
The forthcoming offering will be powered by a 1.5 liter gasoline engine mated to either manual or automatic—both six-speed. This match gives it around 169 horsepower and 265 Nm torque.
On paper, this powertrain has a rated fuel efficiency of up to 13.7 kilometers per liter. With that fuel rating, it means the engine-transmission combo can easily carry the GN6, which stands 4,780mm long, 1,860 wide and 1,730 tall, with a curb weight of 1,600-1,615 kilograms.
The GN6 also has the capacity to sit seven inside the cabin, where the middle and rear occupants also enjoy overhead air-conditioning vents.
Also, based on the photos we are seeing in its home site, the vehicle will enjoy two pairs of captain chairs (front and middle row), making it look like it would be competing with the Honda Odyssey and Kia Grand Carnival.
As to the pricing, we have to wait as to how LMI will be position this model.
Excited for 2021? We also are.
