Geely PH hails Kiyofuji as new president

Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) is now led by its new president and chief executive officer, Yugo Kiyofuji.

In a statement, the local distributor of Geely vehicles in the country said that Kiyofuji has succeeded Yosuke Nishi since April 1. To note, Nishi replaced Mikihisa Takayama in April 2021.

During Nishi’s leadership, SGAP managed to deliver 6,104 units to customers in 2021 — which is 183 percent more compared to 2020’s overall sales. Aside from that, SGAP reached its 10,000th unit-sales milestone last month, which is considered to be one of the fastest achievements in the industry.

Further, the Geely Emgrand was also re-introduced to the country during Nishi’s stint.

Meanwhile, SGAP shared that its newest chief has around two decades of automotive experience of being with other automotive-related companies in various overseas markets such as the Middle East, Latin America and Australia. 

Aside from having a new chief, SGAP will also have Kazuki Sugino as its Chief Administrative Officer in the company’s bid to strengthen the quality of operation throughout SGAP.

Prior to his new role, Sugino played an executive role in Sojitz headquarters. The management changes, SGAP explained, illustrates the strategic importance of SGAP among the Sojitz group of companies.

“I am very grateful for the customers and business partners who accepted and supported the Geely brand up to now that enabled us to become one of the top 10 automotive brands within a short period of time,” Kiyofuji said.

Meanwhile, Kiyofuji said that the company’s goal is “to take SGAP to the next level and become one of the top passenger vehicle brands by 2025” by strengthening its dealer network “as well as exceeding the customer expectation.”

“I am very much excited to take on the challenges ahead and committed to leave no stones unturned to achieve our mid-term goal,” he added. 

SGAP formally introduced Kiyofuji during a turn-over ceremony today. “With the new presidency, SGAP is firmly confident that it will continue its rapid sales increase and improve further providing quality service to its valued customers,” the company ended.
