Geely PH hits all-time high in monthly sales

Geely Philippines updated its newest highest monthly sales record when it sold 1,058 units last month.

In a statement, Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) has surpassed its previous milestone of 1,036 examples sold that was attained only in March 2022.

The Chinese automaker’s local distributor said that the aforementioned volume reflected a 32-percent growth over the 804 units rolled out to clients in the previous month.

Leading the strong output was the Geely Coolray  after delivering 540 vehicles to buyers and reflecting a 92-percent rise over the nameplate’s June 2022 sales. The second best-selling badge for Geely was the Okavango with 396 units turned over to customers (59-percent more than its June 2022 figures.

July 2022 sales for the Emgrand and Azkarra were limited to 91 and 31 units respectively, which was attributed to supply limitations.

In the full seven months of the year, SGAP was able to retail 5,360 Geely vehicles, which showed an 83-percent growth year on year and surpassing the total industry growth of 15 percent.

Further, SGAP now ranks as the 8th-best-selling marque in the country, holding 2.8 percent share of the market compared to the 1.8 percent for the same period in 2021.

“We are very honored to join the four-digits club (more than 1,000-unit monthly sales) that we consider as a clear testament of the customers’ trust in the Geely brand. Coolray remains to be the best-selling model in the roster of Geely vehicles. The recent introduction of the Coolray Special Edition (SE), with its sportier and distinct look, has led to more customers admiring and getting excited over it,” SGAP President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yugo Kiyofuji was quoted as saying.    

Moreover, SGAP expressed optimism that it can further capitalize on the Geely Emgrand to further boost its sales volume in the coming months given its good market acceptance in the subcompact sedan segment.  

Since its introduction last February, the Geely Emgrand is currently the top 4 in the local subcompact sedan segment, selling 895 units all in all. 

“With better supply starting this month complemented with aggressive and really affordable financial plans from our bank partner RCBC, we expect Emgrand to further challenge the top 3 spot in the subcompact sedan segment,” the company CEO added.
