KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the latest offering of Geely Philippines?
It is the all-new Geely Emgrand. In what segment will the all-new Geely Emgrand compete?
The fourth-generation Emgrand will be rivaling those in the subcompact sedan category. The said nameplate was first brought into the country by the then Philippine distributor of Geely vehicles, Autochina.
This re-introduction also affirmed the series of educated guesses that Carmudi Philippines made as early as November 2020.
The assumption grew after Geely Automobile International Corporation Deputy General Manager Jenny Jin revealed in an earlier press conference that the SGAP will “enhance its product range.”
With a tagline, “Be Driven,” the all-new Geely Emgrand is powered by a 1.5-liter inline-four, 16-valve engine that can deliver 102 horses and 142Nm of torque. The said power mill is either mated to a five-speed manual or a continuous variable transmission with eight-speed tiptronic.
The newly-unveiled five-seater shares the same platform (B-segment Modular Architecture [BMA>) with the Coolray, SGAP's best-selling offering.
The fourth-generation Emgrand is 4,638mm long, 1,822mm wide and 1,460mm tall with a 2,650mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 122mm. Also, the vehicle can haul up to 500 liters of cargo.
Further, the comebacking badge for the Chinese automotive manufacturer will have projector-type LED headlamps for most of the variants (the base trim will have the halogen type), auto headlight control, power side mirrors (with power fold and defroster on the top-of-the line option) and a hands-free trunk release.
The majority of the variants will sit on 17-inch alloys.
Buyers of the top variety will be welcomed with white and blue leatherette material all around (lower trim has black fabric). Coming as standard is the eight-inch infotainment system with wireless screen mirroring via EasyConnection, up to six speakers fitted inside the vehicle, and an electronic "intelligent interactive" air-conditioning system. To add, the all-new Geely Emgrand features a sunroof as well.
The driver inside the crème-dela-crème trim of the all-new Geely Emgrand can adjust the seats in six ways electronically, while the front passenger can do it four ways manually.
Further, the all-new Geely Emgrand has a suite of safety and security technologies such as anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, traction and stability control, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, and immobilizer.
Additional features in the all-new Geely Emgrand include front side and curtain airbags, reverse camera, rear parking sensors, cruise control, as well as speed-sensing central locking system.
Offered in six colors namely Proud Teal, dark blue, gold, gray, red, and white, the all-new Geely Emgrand comes in two variants at the following prices:
- Emgrand Comfort: P798,000
- Emgrand Premium P908,000
