Geely prioritizes PH in fresh batch of facemask donation
China automotive brand Geely has prioritized Philippines in their freshest batch of facemasks being donated in the ASEAN region.
In a statement, Geely Holding Group, through Li Shufu Charity Foundation, has sent some 100,000 more facemasks to the Philippines.
The same company, which brought the Coolray and the newly-launched Azkarra to the local market through Sojitz G Auto Philippines made a second round of donation to the country, following the 20,000 pieces of surgical masks to the Department of Health (DOH).
This is an initial response to the country’s medical sector’s appeal for medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE), which were already running out as the number of COVID-19 cases rapidly increased.
Recently, a ceremonial turnover was made by the China-ASEAN Entrepreneurs Association Preparatory Committee, themed, “Mutual Assistance and Solidarity” in Nanning, Guangxi Region, China.
Aside from the 100,000 facemasks to the Philippines, the Chinese-based brand, donated a another 100,000 surgical masks to different countries in Asia like Malaysia and Laos.
Representatives from the ASEAN countries said that the PPE are urgently needed in this time of pandemic.
They also emphasized the important role that the PPEs will play in the fight against COVID-19 across the ASEAN countries. After the arrival of the said batch of surgical masks, the founding members of the federation of the 6 ASEAN countries will help with the delivery of the donations to the local government and relevant agencies.
The donation locally was received by the Philippine Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce (PSRICC)
PSRICC and office of Amb. Francis Chua.
Geely Automobile International Sales Company Deputy General Manager Jin Guangyu, said that Geely Automobile will continue to pay attention to the COVID-19 situation in the Philippines, cooperate with its local partners, and use Geely Automobile's global resources to help in overcoming the pandemic.
Meantime, amid the crisis, Geely Group underscored its vow to focus on providing customers with safe and healthy cars.
Last February, Geely Automobile has invested 370 million RMB (around P2.65 billion ) for the development of healthy cars. In the same month, Geely successfully produced the first car-level CN95 air filter.
Following this development, many models of Geely have been equipped with CN95 filter elements, such as the Coolray and the Azkarra.
