Geely to introduce 7-seater Crossover Okavango in PH
The local distributor for Chinese automotive brand Geely has announced that they will soon be competing in the crossover category in the Philippines as they are set to bring the Okavango in the country
Describing the Okavango as a “Wonderfully Distinct” vehicle, Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) President and CEO Mikihisa Takayama said that the model would be a game-changer in its classification.
According to SGAP, the Geely Okavango is the coming together of the best features of an SUV and an MPV into a single seven-seater crossover.
“The Okavango is definitely a game changer for both the SUV and MPV segments – exquisite and well thought off in terms of design, space, and technology,” Takayama said.
“We are definitely giving our customers a luxurious, uncompromising, and “Wonderfully Distinct” ride,” he added.
Coined from the North-western Botswana’s vast inland delta—which was recognized as UNESCO’s 1,000th World Heritage Site and one of the seven natural wonders of Africa—the Geely Okavango has a host of features that (as Geely claimed), will “set it apart from current models in the segment.”
The Geely Okavango is powered by 1.5L Dual Variable-Valve Timing (DVVT) Turbo engine mated to a seven-speed wet-type dual clutch transmission engineered jointly by both Geely and Volvo. Its 48V Electric Motor System (which can also be found in the Geely Azkarra) helps provide 190 horsepower and 300 Nm maximum output.
The interior has a total of 19-seat configurations and 42 storage compartments, which includes a double-layer console. Aside from that, the Geely Okavango has three-zone air conditioning to provide every row independent control, as well as a 360-degree panoramic camera with guidance system and dynamic auxiliary lines.
Keeping passengers and other motorists safe is its host of features such as six airbags, overspeed warning, electronic stability control, hill start assist, central locking with speed-sensing auto lock, and hill descent control.
Buyers can now start reserving the Geely Okavango and enjoy savings of as much as P90,000. Apart from the discounts, SGAP will also serve a three-year periodic maintenance service package which includes oil, parts and labor to those who reserved and bought the vehicle during the pre-selling period.
One of its dealers, Geely Quezon Avenue, has already spilled the beans on the Geely Okavango. Based on their Facebook page, the Okavango will be available in two variants, Urban and Comfort. To note, the said dealer-partner is belongs to Autohub—under the leadership of Willy Tee Ten.
