Grab PH Announces New Emergency Button Feature
Ride-hailing app Grab unveiled its latest feature: a new in-app 'Emergency' button designed to enhance the safety of drivers and passengers alike. One tap automatically dials 911 and connects the user directly to the proper authorities.
The Emergency button can be found in three locations in the app: on the top right corner of the app interface when in transit, on the driver profile page, and on the side menu.
The Emergency button also allows for alternate numbers that you can call or text, such as 143 for Philippine Red Cross and 117 for the Police.
Users can also set three emergency contacts for the app to send automatic SMS alerts to.Along with the new emergency feature, Grab also established a stricter account verification process on its passengers.
"We strongly condemn any act that puts our driver-partners and passengers at risk," Grab Philippines Country Head Brian Cu. "We are continuously doing tech enhancements to ensure safety of both drivers and passengers."
