League leader
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has brought the
all-new Toyota Corolla Altis to our shores.
The latest offer comes with two available powertrains: the naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter engine and the 1.8-liter hybrid.
The local reveal was made just a few months short of a year when it debuted
at the 2018 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in China.
In her speech,
TMP vice president Elijah Marcial noted the success of the Corolla locally. According to her, about
220,000 units of Corollas have been rolled out.
"I, myself, am a product of driving a Corolla, a stick shift and no power steering back then," Marcial shared.
In terms of affordability, the latest Japanese hybrid offer will go head-to-head
with the Hyundai Ioniq hybrid despite the different body type: the former being a sedan while the latter is a hatchback.
The Thailand-made Altis is said to be more affordable than its previous green champ, the Toyota Prius,
which it showcased earlier this year and is priced at PHP2.289 million.
TMP President Satoru Suzuki was proud to announce that the all-new Toyota Corolla Altis is the first in its lineup to complete the
Toyota New Global Architecture which features safety installments such as:
- Pre-Collision System;
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (using a monocular camera);
- Lane Tracing Assist;
- Lane Departure Alert; and
- Auto High Beam
There will be
