Guadiz reinstated as LTFRB chair

The Department of Transportation reinstated Guadiz following the order that came from Malacanang.Based on the supposed copy of the order (dated November 3, 2023 and posted by Laban TNVS on its Facebook page), Guadiz’ reinstatement is effective starting today.
Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista confirmed the update in a radio report, saying that the order came from the Malacanang. "In compliance with the order, we are returning Chairman Guadiz effective today," Bautista said.
On the same order, Atty. Mercy Leynes’ designation as LTFRB officer-in-charge from October 10, 2023 to October 9, next year has been repealed.
To recall, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. suspended Guadiz due to corruption allegations. Former Land Transportation Office (LTO) employee Jeff Tumbado made the accusations — which he later recanted.
Prior to the suspension order, DOTr Undersecretary of Legal Affairs Reinier Paul Yebra issued a Notice to Explain, asking Guadiz to air his side.
Before being LTFRB chair, Guadiz served as the DOTr Assistant Secretary for the Road Sector and LTO chief.
