GWM Ora, Tank, Cannon showcased at Guangzhou Auto Show

Great Wall Motor (GWM) is showcasing the Ora electric vehicle (EV), Tank sport utility vehicle (SUV), and Cannon pickup truck at the ongoing Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition.

The GWM Ora, which also made an appearance at the 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, was dressed up to look like a Volkswagen Beetle. Called the Ballet Cat, the classic-looking Ora wore a vintage-design grille, lights, wheels, and rear spoiler. Further, its soft and rounded exterior dimensions exude a fun and feminine look.

Inside, the GWM Ora appears to get seats with circular headrests, which sits well with the EV’s overall appeal.

On that note, GWM revealed that the Ora is being marketed as a car for women. To this end, the brand adopted a brand positioning of “loving women more.” The Ora, according to the Chinese carmaker, has become a pioneer in the female automotive market.

GWM revealed that it has now handed over more than 10,000 units of the Ora EV with sales in about 87 countries.

“The Ora brand respects users’ discovery and pursuit of beauty, sees the diverse and personalized modification needs of female users, and creates and shares beauty together with users,” GWM said in a press statement.

The GWM Tank’s beefier version also makes an appearance at the Guangzhou auto expo.

On display is the Tank 700 Hi4-T — a limited-edition hybrid SUV, of which, only 70 units were built. According to GWM, it immediately sold out just 55 seconds after it was announced.

The GWM Tank 700 Hi4-T gets its power from the Baoding-headquartered car brand’s 3.0T V6 twin-turbo engine. Electronic assist comes from a P2 motor, which allows the chunky Chinese SUV to churn a maximum power output of 516 horses and a maximum torque production of 850 Newton-meters.

“As a global high-end luxury off-road brand, the Tank brand continues to lead the upward breakthrough of Chinese off-road vehicle brands. Based on technological innovation, flagship products, and exclusive services, the Tank brand has launched a full-dimensional brand ultra-high-end construction, creating a new benchmark for Chinese luxury off-road,” GWM wrote in a press release.

Joining the Ora and the Tank is the performance-oriented iteration of the Cannon pickup truck, the ShanHai Cannon Performance Edition. GWM explained that it is “bigger, stronger, more luxurious, and more fun.”

Complementing it is the ShanHai Cannon PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle), which is seen as the pickup truck that will lead the nameplate into the “4.0 era of all-scenario intelligent new energy,” and provide a solution for those looking for a new-energy vehicle in the region.

Lastly, GWM displayed some of the Cannon’s customized and “high-cold” editions.
