MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated (HCPI) has bolstered its hybrid lineup with the launch of the new HR-V.
The model’s latest version — which comes with updated looks and amenities alongside a new powertrain option — is part of the model’s second-generation offering that was brought to the market in 2022.
Of note, HCPI has sold some 10,216 units of the subcompact crossover as of last year since the nameplate was introduced in 2015.
Below are the new Honda HR-V's specifications.
Since this is considered a refreshed version, the new Honda HR-V is still 4,385 millimeters (mm) long; 1,790 mm wide; and 1,590 mm tall — with a 2,610-mm wheelbase, 196-mm ground clearance, and 40-liter tank capacity.
Its front fascia gets a new honeycomb grille as well as a blue H badge at the middle for its top-of-the-line trim. It also sits on 17- or 18-inch wheels (depending on the trim) and comes with a new body color option called Sand Khaki.
Among the amenities that can be found on the new Honda HR-V are the electronically adjustable driver seat (for the middle and top-tier trims) and floating infotainment system.
In addition, it is also equipped with a wireless charging dock (for the mid-and top-tier variations), and ULT seats (Utility, Long, and Tall Mode) seats.
The new Honda HR-V’s gets the biggest update as it is now powered with a port-injected, four-cylinder, Atkinson cycle, double overhead cam, intelligent variable valve timing and lift electronic control, 1.5-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors and an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission. The electric-internal combustion engine set-up — also known as e:HEV — allows the crossover to do 23.2 kilometers per liter (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure standards).
The internal combustion engine alone can provide as much as 104 horsepower (hp) and 127 Newton-Newton-meters (Nm) of torque while the electric mills, 129 hp and 253 Nm. Propelling the electric motor is an intelligent power unit composed of 60 lithium-ion battery cells.
