The Geely Coolray is arguably one of the most good-looking subcompact sport utility vehicles (SUV) on the market today. That said, many Filipino car buyers often have the nameplate at least at the top three of their lists when choosing an SUV.
On that note, we’re breaking down the differences between the three available variants of the Geely Coolray, for those eyeing the vehicle.
Before we play spot the difference, let’s first look at what the available variants are and how much they cost:
Geely Coolray Comfort – P1.073 Million
Geely Coolray Premium – P1.198 Million
Geely Coolray Sport – P1.269 Million
The exterior appointments of the Geely Coolray definitely give justice to its name. At the front of the Comfort and Premium variants is the brand’s iconic Cosmos grille paired with the X-shaped Energy bumper. On the other hand, the Sport trim gets a Borderless Chronos grille accompanied by the same cool-looking bumper.
Car buyers opting for the Comfort and Premium trims of the Geely Coolray can expect the front fascia to be flanked by a pair of projector halogen headlamps while those planning to get the range-topping Sport model can expect to get brighter and more efficient LED headlamps. All variants though, get LED daytime running lights (DRLs).
Highlighting the side profile of the Geely Coolray range is a set of 15-inch wheels. And while power side mirrors are made standard across the range, the nameplate’s Comfort and Premium variants get heating functionalities while the Sport trim gets the same heating function plus power fold features.
At the rear, the Comfort and Premium models of the Geely Coolray wear a standard spoiler while the Sport model gets a sport-type double-deck spoiler. Furthermore, the Comfort and Premium variants get a manual liftgate while the top-of-the-line Sport variant gets a power liftgate with an angle memory feature.
The cabin of the Geely Coolray enjoys a wealth of features starting with its plush seats. The seats of the Comfort variant are finished in fabric while the Premium trim is swathed in PVC material. Finally, the Sport model boasts seats with sport-type leather material. Additionally, the Sport model comes with seat ventilation.
All variants come with a 10.25-inch infotainment display plus six speakers.
Further interior features include electronic air conditioning for the base Comfort model as well as single-zone automatic air conditioning and a panoramic sunroof for both the Premium and Sport trims.
Under the hood of the Geely Coolray is a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder, turbocharged engine mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. This setup makes 177 horsepower (hp) with 255 Nm of pulling power.
For the Geely Coolray Comfort, safety features include front airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction and stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, a reverse parking camera, and rear corner sensors.
The Geely Coolray Premium gets more with side airbags, a reverse and blind spot parking camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Finally, the Geely Coolray Sport bumps up safety with the addition of curtain airbags, a 360-degree view parking camera, and front and rear corner sensors. It also gets driver-assist features such as active park assist and blind spot detection.
