Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI), recently launched the updated Honda HR-V. Its arrival in the Philippine crossover segment wowed fans as it brought with it new looks and an updated suite of features.
Let’s look at the differences between the old and the new Honda HR-V.
You simply cannot unsee it. The new Honda HR-V bears striking similarities with the all-new Honda Civic. Both share a more stylish, upmarket, mature look.
Compared to the old Honda HR-V though, the latest iteration of the compact crossover looks boxy and masculine.
At the fore is a new grille and bumper flanked by a pair of full LED headlights with daytime running lights (DRL), turn signals, and fog lamps. Likewise, it has an LED taillamp with an LED light bar.
The old one isn’t bad, but we definitely prefer the updated version. The old Honda HR-V had a contoured hood, larger headlamps, and grille that made it look like it was smirking.
It’s like comparing Zac Efron from High School Musical and Zac Efron from Baywatch. We know who you would pick.
The new Honda HR-V boasts a clean-looking interior.
The same horizontal lines can be seen inside the cabin. Its dashboard is arranged in a way that looks uncluttered. The eight-inch infotainment system, the seven-inch instrument panel, and the chrome-trimmed center console are tidy enough that Marie Kondo herself would approve of it.
Meanwhile, the old Honda HR-V features an interior that reflected its exterior vibe. Its design screamed of its era with lots of rounded edges and flowing lines.
The new Honda HR-V is fitted with a 1.5-liter double overhead cam, VTEC, turbo four-cylinder, 16-valve, gasoline engine mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Honda said it makes about 177 horsepower (hp) and around 240Nm of torque.
The old Honda HR-V had a larger 1.8-liter SOHC i-VTEC engine mated also to a CVT. However, it only made around 140 horses.
The 2022 Honda HR-V excels over the old model in almost all aspects. It has more updated styling and is equipped with a better engine.
To note, the new Honda HR-V is offered in two variants: the S CVT and V Turbo CVT. They are priced at P1.25 million and P1.598 million respectively.
Nevertheless, the old Honda HR-V still makes for a good choice, especially for those scouting the second-hand market. That said, you can check out Carmudi Philippines’ selection of used Honda HR-V here.
