The Audi RS 4 Avant is hitting two birds with one stone. It is a vehicle that can be enjoyed by the whole family yet shows the traits of a fun-to-drive ride that dishes out exhilarating performance.
With that, Audi Philippines is surely proud of bringing the Audi RS 4's latest version here in the country
Here are some notable traits of the athletic wagon from the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer.
Taking cues from the original Audi Sport Quattro, the Audi RS 4 Avant wears a narrow slit above the now wider and flatter Singleframe grill with a three-dimensional honeycomb structure in gloss black commonly seen on the RS model series. This design complements the aggressively contoured LED headlights with dynamic turn signals and the large air inlets in the bumper with vertical flaps.
The Audi RS 4 Avant also wears Quattro blisters over the wheel arches to further pay homage to the Quattro and the earlier Audi RS 4 Avant generation. The Black Optic Package as well as the RS sport exhaust system with black tailpipes add a bold, sporty look.
The Audi RS4 Avant sits on 20-inch, glossy black anthracite, five-spoke alloy wheels.
Powering the Audi RS 4 Avant is a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo TFSI V6 gasoline engine that is engineered to deliver 450hp and 600Nm. This propels this model from zero to 100kph in 4.1 seconds. Also, the engine is lighter by 31 kilograms compared to the V8 engine in the previous-generation model.
The Audi drive select dynamic handling system found on the Audi RS 4 Avant alters the engine, transmission, power steering, suspension, steering, Quattro sport differential, engine sound and even air-conditioning depending on the profile. Speaking of profiles, the Audi RS4 provides five profiles to match a given driving situation: comfort, auto, dynamic and the customizable RS1 and RS2 modes.
This power engine is matched to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission that delivers the output to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
Providing the braking power are six-piston RS brake calipers.
The 10.1-inch MMI touch display instrument panel seen on the new Audi RS 4 Avant is tilted toward the driver. Its touch-sensitive screen displays high-resolution graphics and provides acoustic feedback. Aside from that, special RS displays on the Audi virtual cockpit shows information on tire pressure, torque and power outputs, engine oil temperature, lap timings, acceleration measurements, and g-forces generated. It even has a shift light that prompts the driver to upshift when the engine’s rev limit is reached.
Lastly, the Audi RS 4 Avant has a 495-liter luggage compartment which can be adjusted up to 1,495 liters when the rear seats are folded down.
