Omoda Philippines expressed pride in the numerous features of the upcoming electrified version of the Omoda 5, which will serve as its strong contender in the fast-growing electric vehicle (EV) market locally.
The soon-to-be-member of the company’s initial lineup, the Omoda 5 EV will be heavy on driver-assistive and safety features.
Aimed to tap the young and tech-oriented, the the Chinese automaker’s local distributor shared the aforementioned model will be fitted with 16-function advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as the front collision avoidance, front departure reminder, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, autonomous emergency braking, driver monitoring system, among others), a 360-degree view camera as well as heads-up display – all projected through two 10.25 inch screens on the dashboard.
Aside from that, the vehicle shall also wear comfort-related technologies like the power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation functions; infotainment system that is Wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto-ready; anti-pinch function on all windows; as well as remote start, keyless entry and remote switch for air-conditioning (that can be activated with a push of a button on the keyfob.
The cabin of the shall also have an eight-speaker Sony Sound System, three high-speed USB ports, two power outlets, and a wireless charging dock.
Further, the Omoda 5 EV will be propelled by a liquid-cooled Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that can deliver a maximum of 204 horsepower and around 400 Newton-meters of pulling power.
The range of the battery of a juiced-up Omoda 5 EV can cover up to 450 kilometers and the AC/DC charging module comes standard with the car, along with a portable 220-volt charger.
Moreover, the arriving model received a five-star recognition after being evaluated by the European New Car Assessment Program (EURO NCAP).
However, the vehicle’s pricing has yet to be announced but Omoda Philippines assured that it will be very competitive since the model shall enjoy the benefits of the tax exemption program for EV models.
Notably, customers who will use the Omoda 5 EV for daily commute shall be spared from the number coding scheme as stated in the Republic Act 11697 (Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act).
As reported earlier, the EV model is set to be introduced in the country alongside its gas-powered sibling, and its brother-from-another-mother, the Jaecoo 7. All models shall be revealed in the final quarter of 2023.
