The 2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Cup came to a close last weekend. And as Toyota’s one-make race drew its conclusion, names — both familiar and new — were announced as winners of the third leg and final race of the season.
Jay Lao of OTR Racing Team ultimately claimed first place in the Promotional Class. Ian Rosales of Toyota Team Cebu and Alain Alzona of Alzona Racing Team took second and third, respectively.
Meanwhile, Joaquin Garrido of the Obengers Racing Team was named the champion of Race 9’s Sporting Class. Michael Keilani Jordan of Jordan Racing Team clinched second while Jiro Garbes of Toyota San Fernando finished third.
The Super Sporting Class, on the other hand, saw Inigo Anton from Obengers Racing Team secure first place. Red Diwa of Toyota Isabela claimed second place with John Dizon, also from Obengers Racing, trailing in third place.
While the Circuit Championship winners were eager to prove their mettle, those who joined in the Autocross Challenge showed what they can do behind the wheel of Toyota’s best-selling sedan.
For the Media Promotional Class, Pablo Salapantan still finished on top, with Siegwald Go advancing to second place and Riz Javier claiming the third spot. Media Sporting Class also saw Jan Lacuna keeping his podium spot, with Ronald Delos Reyes and Kevin Franciso finishing second, and third respectively.
The influencers also showed what they got when it came to be the star on the race track. Bringing home the Promotional Class top spot was Miguel Romulo, who bested two other strong contenders, Ashley Gosiengifiao, who finished second, and Carla Lizardo, who took third place.
It was a quick rise to the top spot for Enzo Pineda, who championed the Influencer Sporting Class, with Jules Aquino and Aaron Villaflor eventually claiming the second and third spots, respectively.
For the GR GT Cup Class of Autocross Challenge, Russel Reyes was named champion. Jether Miole finished second, while Mark Elman claimed the third spot.
The final leg of the TGR Vios cup saw 55 racers in various categories vie for a place on the podium. Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) will soon announce overall season champs this December to officially wrap up the season.
