What is Honda Sensing?
It a host of safety technologies available in a Honda vehicle. What models in the Philippines are fitted with the Honda SENSING technology?
These are the Honda Civic, CR-V, Accord, and the Civic Type R.Since 2015, the local arm for the Japanese automaker has pushed for models that offer a suite of driver-assist safety features — more commonly known as Honda SENSING. This started with the Legend, followed by the third-generation Pilot the following year.
But the pursuit in ensuring Honda vehicles are safe and secure did not stop at the two models. The recent launch of the 11th-generation Civic elevates showcased the Honda SENSING’s newest adaptation — using a monocular camera instead of a radar.
According to HCPI, the new camera setup provides better recognition and can measure the distance target of the vehicle or obstacle ahead. This arrangement gives the compact sedan access to the following high-tech safety features:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS): The system now recognizes pedestrians during day and night, bicycles, left or right turn across paths, and preceding motorcycles.
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF)
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
- Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW)
- Auto High-Beam (AHB)
- Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN) – New
HCPI shared that the Honda SENSING is not limited all-new Civic. In fact, it is also fitted with other Honda models such as the CR-V, Accord, and the new Civic Type R that gives Honda customers a variety of options when choosing a vehicle that would suit their preferences.
Apart from vehicle technologies, Honda engages different stakeholders in Safety Education programs, such as the Teen Smart Driving and Safety Seminar.
“Inspired by ‘Safety for Everyone,’ the program aims to strengthen the youth's consciousness and appreciation for road safety, and deepen their sense of responsibility in how they can help reduce road accidents and fatalities, practical things they can do especially as they near the licensing age, or even as pedestrians and passengers,” the company said in a statement.
“Honda’s global safety vision of ‘Safety for Everyone’ is the foundation of technologies and educational programs on safety that’ll contribute to the protection of drivers, passengers, riders, as well as pedestrians, so that everyone can safely and confidently share the roads,” it added.
