Jeep announced that the 2023 model year (MY) Jeep Gladiator is now offered in four models: Sport, Overland, Mojave, and Rubicon.
All models, according to the Stellantis-owned company, share a host of exterior appointments and off-road-oriented accessories. These include a versatile box, body-on-frame design, front and rear five-link suspension system, solid axles, and electronic lockers.
Each has the standard 44.7-degree approach angle, 20.9-degree breakover angle, 26-degree departure angle, and ground clearance of 11.6 inches. Water fording for all four grades is up to 31.5 inches.
The vehicles also share lightweight, high-strength aluminum doors, hinges, hood, fenders, windshield frame, and tailgate to help reduce weight and boost fuel economy.
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator Sport and Overland models get the Command-Trac NV241 part-time, two-speed transfer case, which features a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. In addition, an optional Trac-Lok limited-slip rear differential can be ordered, which provides extra torque and grip in low-traction environments, such as sand, mud, or snow.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon variant receives the Rock-Trac NV241OR two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio. It also gets electric front and rear locking differentials, a disconnecting front sway bar, off-road winch-capable bumpers with removable end caps, and 33-inch tires.
Lastly, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Mojave enjoys high-performance appointments that include high-performance FOX 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks with reservoirs and industry-first FOX front hydraulic jounce bumpers to maximize handling in addition to a rear locking differential.
Under the hood of America’s iconic off-roading sport utility vehicle (SUV) will be either be a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 (both with engine stop-start system).
The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine delivers 285 horsepower (hp) and nearly 353Nm of torque. Standard on 2023 Jeep Gladiator Sport, Mojave, and Rubicon models is a six-speed manual transmission while a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission will be standard only for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Overland trim but will be offered as an optional add-on for the aforementioned Sport, Mojave, and Rubicon grades.
The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6, on the other hand, produces 260 horses with almost 600Nm of pulling power. The EcoDiesel V6 is mated to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission, calibrated for low-rpm shifts.
Building from the four aforementioned models are the available trims for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator. For the Freedom special edition trim, owners can expect to get an Oscar Mike badge on the rear tailgate, LED headlamps and fog lamps, body-color fender flares, winch-capable steel front and rear bumpers, steel rock rails, black wheels and accents, and an American flag decal along the side of each vehicle. Inside, it adds leather-trimmed cloth seats and black accent stitching.
The High Altitude trim, on the other hand, get the New Capability package which features winch-capable steel front bumper, steel rock rails, and front off-road camera.
Furthermore, the Willys trim also now comes standard with proximity keyless entry, a seven-inch instrument cluster and remote start, and a garage door opener.
On Jeep’s website, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator is priced from US$37,375 (Sport) to US$54,475 (High Altitude).
