Ford Philippines is launching the
updated Ford Everest tomorrow, August 9, as a precursor to its
annual Ford Island Conquest which will be held at the
MegaTent Events Venue in Libis along E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue in Quezon City, with the
two-day public test drive for the midsize SUV happening
from August 10 to 11, from 9 AM to 9 PM.
As we wait for Ford to officially reveal the new Everest tomorrow, we speculate what changes it will have.
The biggest change to the updated Everest will be the deletion of the 3.2-liter engine and the six-speed automatic transmission in favor of the
2.0-liter bi-turbo and 10-speed slushbox that puts out
210 hp and 500 Nm of torque. That's right, for the
4x4 Titanium+ variant at least, Ford Philippines has put the
heart of the Ford Ranger Raptor into its popular midsize SUV offering. All that's missing really is for somebody crazy enough to transplant the Ranger Raptor's suspension wizardry, Terrain Management System with Baja mode, and 17-inch all-terrain tires to the Everest and you could call it the Ford Everest Raptor.
For the lesser-spec'd Everest variants, the engine offered is the
2.0-liter single-turbo that's also mated to the
same 10-speed automatic but with the output down to
178 hp and 420 Nm of torque--
the same drivetrain offered with the Ranger Wildtrak launched in September 2018.
Also new to the transmissin is that it now has a
Sport Mode for a more spirited drive.
Updates to the standard Everest we could expect are the
Push Start System,
Ford's Sync 3 that
supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and
Rollover Mitigation.
Other updates to the
top-spec Everest Titanium+ are its
Autonomous Emergency Braking System with Pedestrian Detection,
Auto High Beam Control, and
Hands-Free Lift Gate System.
Aesthetically, the updated Everest has a
revised grille and front bumper on the outside while inside, the area around the gear lever is now
finished in Piano Black.
That's about it for now. We'll give you more details on the updated Ford Everest once it's launched tomorrow. Stay tuned!
