Here’s your first look at the possible Mitsubishi XFC Concept production model
Mitsubishi has finally released rendered photos of what its all-new compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) will look like, which could be the production model of the XFC Concept previewed in the country not too long ago.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the all-new compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) from Mitsubishi?
The all-new compact SUV from Mitsubishi is powered by a 1.5-liter engine mated to a continously variable transmission.Where will Mitsubishi build the all-new compact SUV?
Per Mitsubishi, the all-new compact SUV will be built in Indonesia. While the Beast Mode design language used on the recently revealed Mitsubishi Triton, (also known as the Strada), gave the pickup truck a predominantly beefy and boxy look, the Silky and Solid design concept undertaken for the yet-to-be-named compact SUV gave it the best of both worlds: “elegance and robustness.”
Per Mitsubishi, the upper part of the compact SUV’s body expresses an airy silkiness with a floating roof and a sleek surface that begins from the three-diamond emblem up front and flows along the side to the rear.
Meanwhile, its lower exterior body adopts the solid and powerful proportions of an SUV. Mitsubishi pointed out that the all-new compact SUV wears muscular fender flares, sports a set of 18-inch wheels and large-diameter tires, and boasts a ground clearance of 222 millimeters (mm).
Notable design elements come in the form of an evolved Dynamic Shield front fascia as well as T-shaped front light clusters — which again are reminiscent of the Mitsubishi XFC Concept — that are made up of LED headlamps and LED L-shaped daytime running lights. Continuing the design at the fore are similarly shaped LED taillamps.
According to the all-new compact SUV’s spec sheet, it measures 4,390mm long, 1,810mm wide, and 1,660mm tall. For comparison’s sake, the said vehicle is smaller than the Mitsubishi Xpander multi-purpose vehicle, which has an overall length of 4,595mm and an overall height of 1,750mm. Nevertheless, it will be slightly wider than the top-selling MPV in the country, which has an overall width of 1,750mm.
As for its interior appointments, Mitsubishi is yet to disclose the details, but it is possible that the forthcoming compact SUV will be the nameplate to carry the Yamaha-made sound system.
If we are also going to base its interior on the Mitsubishi XFC Concept displayed at the Newport Mall in Pasay City in June, it would be safe to assume that the upcoming compact SUV will have a seamlessly combined instrument cluster and infotainment system, seen on many of today’s modern automobiles.
Plenty of digital controls might be expected.
Power will come from a 1.5-liter engine mated to a continuously variable transmission, although performance figures are also yet to be released.
The abovementioned compact SUV from Mitsubishi will make its global premiere at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show.
It will be built at Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia, with deliveries to customers scheduled to commence as early as November 2023.
“In this all-new model, we have further evolved the design to meet the needs of the compact SUV market, which has been growing in recent years. In addition to the robustness and powerfulness characteristic of Mitsubishi Motors, we have pursued a design that is more stylish, energetic, and distinctive than ever. At the upcoming Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, we hope that even more customers will discover what Mitsubishi Motors has to offer and empathize with our design through this all-new compact SUV,” commented Mitsubishi Motors Design Division General Manager Seiji Watanabe.
Alongside the all-new compact SUV, Mitsubishi will also display the eK X EV, Minicab-MiEV, Xpander, Xpander Cross, and the Pajero Sport (known as Montero Sport in the Philippines) at the auto expo.
